Rock Ternat was the annual traditional finale of the Belgian festival season in early October. The first edition of the festival took place in 1992.
In 2013, the festival ran into financial difficulties due to rising costs and disappointing visitor numbers. On 29 April 2014, it was announced that Rock Ternat would cease to exist.
After 7 years of silence, on 1 April 2021, the festival announced its intention to organize another edition for the summer of 2021 and return to its roots, the Ternat sports center.
